Personal injury: 2 injured, 1 killed in recent New York crash

Most tractor-trailer drivers are well-trained professionals, committed to taking measures to prevent accidents. Unfortunately, failure to take necessary precautions can result in an accident with serious ramifications. Two people who were injured in a recent car crash involving a tractor-trailer in New York may be contemplating a personal injury lawsuit.

Details regarding the collision are unclear. However, reports claim that a tractor-trailer driven by a 23-year-old man and another vehicle collided on a westbound expressway during the early morning hours of a day in late March. The tractor-trailer driver is accused of failing to remain at the scene.

Officials were able to stop the truck after it crossed into another state. One person in the other vehicle, a 25-year-old man, passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the collision. Two men suffered injuries described as non life-threatening. Two women in the car were also hospitalized following the collision. The driver of the tractor-trailer has since been charged with driving while intoxicated.

Unfortunately, a stay in the hospital can quickly generate medical bills that are financially overwhelming. To further complicate an injured victim's financial situation, many are forced to miss a great deal of work, resulting in lost wages while they recover. As a result, people injured in car accidents in New York often make the decision to file a personal injury lawsuit. A successfully presented case could result in a financial award that will help victims cope with the financial ramifications of their injuries, allowing them to focus on their overall recovery rather than how they will pay their bills.
