Personal injury: New York crash injures 7, kills 2

The dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol are well-publicized in an attempt to bring attention to the serious issue. Despite attempts to educate the public, people in New York and other areas of the country continue to get behind the wheel of a car while under the influence of alcohol, resulting in personal injury to multiple victims. Unfortunately, one man was recently arrested for his alleged involvement in an accident that is said have taken two lives and injured seven people.

The accident happened on a day in mid-July. According to reports, a sports utility vehicle driven by a 33-year-old man sideswiped a car, causing the SUV driver to lose control. The SUV reportedly veered across several lanes of traffic before striking another vehicle. Yet another vehicle was ultimately involved.

Two passengers in the SUV, a 16-year-old and a 34-year-old, died as a result of the accident. Reports indicate that seven other people, including the driver of the SUV, were injured; the extent of their injuries is unclear. The SUV driver now faces multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

Unfortunately, one person's poor decision can permanently alter many lives. In this case, families are left grieving their loved ones while several others must cope with the injuries they suffered in what appears to have been a preventable accident. For those who suffer a personal injury in an accident such as this, recovery can be lengthy, resulting in significant financial harm. As a result, many people in New York often choose to seek damages against a driver believed to have been negligent.
